About

Lifework Leadership provides an extraordinary leadership development experience for the leaders of our city.  National speakers, such as Dr. Henry Blackaby, Gordon MacDonald and Gordon Pennington, come to Jacksonville over an eight-month “journey” and share their powerful teachings through a Christian worldview that is perfectly transferable to today’s marketplace and our participants’ businesses.

Gains

Our half-day, monthly sessions begin in October and end in May. Throughout the year, participants experience Lifework Leadership principles by following the leadership journey of Jesus, interacting with prominent local leaders in a case study format, and learning from nationally recognized speakers. Participants also take occasional field trips to corporate, community and social service centers in the community to complement the session’s content.

Participants Gain

      • A clear perspective of their calling and how they fit into their world.
      • A desire to positively shape their corporate culture.
      • Opportunities to meaningfully serve in not-for-profit organizations.

Our History

Lifework Leadership was birthed in 1992 when U.S. Senator William Armstrong (CO) convened Christian business leaders to cast a vision for a world, city by city, that could be transformed through leaders who had a clear calling and a biblical worldview. Armstrong challenged Ralph D. Veerman, of Veerman & Associates, and Larry Kreider, President of The Gathering USA, Inc., to be founding partners and launch in their city of Orlando, Florida. Our model was refined in 2000 with the appointment of Steven French as President. French brought Lifework’s staff, and its core nine-month program and curriculum to a level that enabled our model of leadership transformation to be transferable for leaders in other cities. From our inception, our mission and vision has been captured in a mantra – “transforming leaders, transforming cities”.

By the fall of 2006, our Orlando alumni had grown into a leadership community of over 500 leaders and were shaping the culture of Orlando. Seeing Lifework’s impact, leaders in the South Florida area invited us to launch a pilot program in their cities. The success of this pilot program led to numerous invitations for our expansion over the last several years. We are now an international community of more than 2,700 leaders in Atlanta, Beijing, Birmingham, Cleveland, Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Jacksonville/First Coast, Nairobi, Orlando, Pretoria, Tampa Bay, and Washington, D.C.
